 From the top of the forest, you will observe the overview of Sa Pa town, cloudy karst mountains as well as Muong Hoa Valley. This place is the home of many different hill tribe people including H’mong, Dzay, Dzao and Tay.

Make your own way from your hotel to Hanoi railways station. Take the overnight train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train, compartment of 4 people sharing, soft beds, A/C

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Lao Cai – Sa Pa – Suoi Ho – Ma Tra – Ta Phin (B/L)

     The train arrives at Lao Cai Station approx at 05h30. Meet and transfer to Sapa, have breakfast and free to at leisure. Locating just about 5km southeast of Sapa town, Ma Tra valley attracts visitors for its stunning scenery highlighted with impressive terraced rice fields. The Hmong peoples has changed from sifting lifestyle into sedentary one form early 20th Century and built terraced field to ensure their permanent earning by farming wet rice.

     
     
    Trip commences from Sapa at 08.30am or 01.30pm by a 5km road transfer out of Sapa town. Then walk starts from here downhill and cross the stream to the other bank where Suoi Ho village beautifully sits on the top of a low hill. Spend half an hour to visit several local homes for understanding of local life before continue walking along a large path on hillsides which is paved with rock to get through Ma Tra village. This portion of the walk offers beautiful scenery of the valley and terraced paddies as well as flower farm. Walk through for 2 hours through several hamlets of the Hmong scattering on hill-sides. Continue gradually downhill 1 hour to Ta Phin village which is home to Red Dzao people. Then picked up and transfer by road 12km back to Sapa.

    Trekking distance: 10km – 6 hours ~ Mix of dirty trails, off road and pave road at the end

    Car support: 15km/Drop off at Suoi Ho and pick up at Ta Phin
  • Day 2

    Sa Pa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Su Pan – Ban Ho village (B/L/D)

     After breakfast, drive to Lao Chai village, from there you will walk to the valley, visit Lao Chai village then continue trekking to Ta Van where you will visit the Giay minority people. This tribe traditionally fished for a living and as a result established themselves close to rivers. They have mastered the art of fishing with bamboo sticks, and cook the fish in the bamboo. Nowadays however you are more likely to see the Giay working in fields planting or harvesting rice. We will continue our walk through an impressive bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, and then on to the village of Supan where you will be able to rest your legs and take in the stunning mountain scenery as we stop for a picnic lunch.

     
    Feeling revitalized, we will hike the final 6km to Ban Ho village where we will spend the night at homestay. This building is particularly special as it sits on stilts overlooking the rice terraces. Dinner is cooked on an open fire, and some local specialty rice wine will be on offer to help you wind down!

  • Day 3

    Ban Ho – Thanh Phu – Su Pan - Sapa (B/L)

     You will know when it’s time to wake up when you hear the patter of feet on bamboo heading up the stairs to the bathroom. After a filling breakfast in the homestay we will walk 3km to Nam Toong village, home to the Red Dao minority. We will then follow a buffalo trail through sprawling rice terraces, taking in the spectacular views of Halong National Park as we make our way to My Son village. Here you can meet the Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest tribes in the Sapa area. Continue trek back to Su Pan Village, from where driver pick up and transfer by road back to Lao Cai town. A. CANCELLATION POLICY:
The cancellation charges below refer to the non-transferable fee that is charged to the group member who has cancelled their tour:

  • More than 45 days before departure: No cancellation charge
  • Between 45 and 30 days before departure: 10% of total tour cost 
  • Between 30 days and 15 days before departure: 25% of total tour cost
  • Between 15 days and 7 days before departure: 50% of total tour cost
  • Less than 7 days before departure: 90% of total tour cost
  • No-show at the airport on the day of arrival/departure: 100% of total tour cost


B. CHILDREN POLICY (land service only)

  • Child from 1- 4 yrs:  Free of charge if sharing bed with parents 
  • Child from 5 – 6 yrs: charge 30% of adult price if sharing existing bed(s) with parents
  • Child from 5 – 6 yrs: charge 50% of adult price if using extra bed/mattress in parents’ room
  • Child from 7 – 11 yrs: charge 75% of adult price if using extra bed/mattress in parents’ room
  • Child from 12 yrs up: pay as adult rate
