Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1

    HANOI – ARRIVAL

     Upon arrival in Hanoi - a thousand years Capital, you are met and transfer to hotel in the city centre. Time at leisure after a long flight.

  • Day 2

    HANOI LIFE (B/L)

     Leave behind the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, walk across the Long Bien Bridge, witness the life of local people beneath the bridge. Then reach to Bac Bien village, visit lively local market, select some fresh fruits and fresh flower. Continue walking to the village’s Old age pagoda, pray for good luck and Buddhist chanting with the head nun.

     
    In the afternoon, return to city central, visit to the Temple of Literature, the first university in Vietnam dating back to the 11th century. Discover the famed Old Quarter on foot. Walk through the hidden alleys, amaze at the old style tube houses, visit the lively local market and lovely peaceful temple Bach Ma. Next, hop on a traditional bicycle rickshaws move at leisure pace that’s perfect for photos and slow-moving sightseeing. Seat back and relax while your driver weaves through the busy streets, dodging speeding motorbikes and rolling past French colonial houses. As the local do, sit down at a local café by the main church, enjoy a cup of ‘Tra Chanh’ – green tea with lime and chat with the youth. Overnight in Hanoi.
  • Day 3

    HANOI – MAI CHAU VALLEY (B/L/D)

     Nested in a valley amongst verdant hills in the northwestern highlands, Mai Chau’s stunning scenery offers excellent opportunities for trekking while providing a glimpse into the village life of the H’mong and White Thai ethnic hill tribes.

     
    Departing  Hanoi to Mai Chau valley, 150km North-west of Hanoi city. 12:00 at noon arrive in the village of Mai Chau. Surrounded by steep mountains and stunning rice paddies, tiny Mai Chau is an uplifting and refreshing holiday from a region packed with challenging travel opportunities. Short trek to visit villages of Thai minority people (biking option is available), visit their home to see how they live and have chat with local. Lunch in local house
     
    In the afternoon, continue driving 13km further to a beautiful Thai minority people which is located along the Xia steam, in primary forests and palm hills. The village is undiscovered by mass tourist. Upon on arrival, check-in  room, relax. Dinner with the host family and overnight at local home (house on stilts).
  • Day 4

    MAI CHAU – HANOI (B/L)

     Enjoy breakfast at local home.

     
    This morning, take an easy walk to visit this peaceful village, watch the people working on the field (you can try a hand to help with their farm work if you want), we pause to visit local families, enjoy a cup of tea and exchange the daily life experience with them. Board the bamboo rafting upstream to view scenic and feel the peace. Return to our host family for lunch. Check-out and say goodbye with the host family for our return trip to Hanoi city. Overnight in Hanoi.
  • Day 5

    HANOI – HA LONG BAY - CRUISE IN THE WORLD HERITAGE SITE (B/L/D)

     Make an early morning departure from Hanoi and drive 3.5hours through the Red River Delta on our way to Halong city. Upon arrival, the crew will greet us abroad the traditional style junk with a refreshing welcome drink and then the cruise begins! While navigating the way through the emerald waters and limestone islands, lunch is served with delicious fresh seafood (vegetarians are also catered for). As cruising through the bay, marvel at the amazing karst scenery with different formations. Halong Bay is littered with hidden caves and grottoes and we’ll take some time to explore one of these. For those felling active you then can explore the bay by sea kayak. After the dinner, night fishing is available on the main deck. Overnight onboard on the bay.

  • Day 6

    HALONG BAY – HANOI - DA NANG – HOI AN (B)

     Early risers can enjoy the sunrise and the quiet breath-taking beauty of Halong Bay’s landscape. We Continue cruising to explore more of the bay and enjoy the brunch breakfast before returning to the Jetty at noon time. Drive transfer directly to Noi Bai airport for 1hr flight to Danang city.

     
    Land in Danang airport and make the 40 minutes drive to the charming town of Hoi An.
  • Day 7

    HOI AN SAVOUR (B/L)

     This morning take a cooking class to learn fun and easy authentic Vietnamese dishes.

     
    Come to the Hai Scout Café in Hoi An’s old streets to meet the chef. Visit a local market to buy the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. Board a boat for a leisurely cruise along the Thu Bon River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. On arrival, explore the school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An and Vietnam’s well-known dishes, which are a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines. The cooking lesson lasts about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge’s chef before you prepare the same dish by yourself. The class also contains a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carvings (plate decoration). After the lesson, sit down and enjoy what you have cooked. Then the boat will take you back to Hoi An town.
     
    In the afternoon, you will visit Hoi An ancient town, recently named as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Visit Tan Ky House, a late 18th-century merchant’s residence. The house itself is a fine example of combined Japanese, Vietnamese, and Chinese architecture, typical of the older houses in Hoi An. The Fukhien Association, also known as the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation, was founded as a place where minority Fujian Chinese could hold meetings. Later it became a temple for the worship of Thien Hau, goddess of the sea and protector of fishermen and sailors. Overnight in Hoi An
  • Day 8

    HOI AN – HUE – TAM GIANG LAGOON (B)

     Free morning at your leisure.

     
    Afternoon, leave Hue for Hoi An via Hai Van Pass which is one of the best coast roads in the world. Stop en route for taking breath at Lang Co Bay. On arrival in Danang, visit the Cham’s museum, housed hundreds relics of Cham’s culture, belong the Champa Kingdom dated from 4th-14th centuries. Arrive in Hue, we continue to visit ‘Dam Chuon’ in Tam Giang Lagoon system where there is a ravishing beauty. Board the boat, cruise view sunset from the lagoon (if weather permit), experience catching fish by using local fishing tool, visit a local fisher man family who work and live on boat in this lagoon. Enjoy simple local food in restaurant before returning to Hue city. Check-in your hotel, relax and overnight in Hue.
  • Day 9

    HUE – OLD AGE CRAFT VILLAGEs & THE CITADEL (B/L)

     After breakfast, board the boat, cruise along the romantic Perfume River and witness the beautiful scenic by the riverbank.  Arrive at the traditional woodblock printing village of Sinh lies along the lower section of the Perfume River overlooking temples and pagodas. The colorful prints are generally used around the Lunar New Year period as burning effigies for ancestor worship. Visit Ky Huu Phuoc artist family and learn more on their age old techniques. We can try to do our own picture and keep it as souvenir.

     
    Then hop on the local bike, short cycling to the small village of Thanh Tien which was traditionally the place where local craftsmen produced paper flowers, with techniques that had been passed down through the generations for hundreds of years. The village still produces these colorful paper flowers that include chrysanthemums, orchids, sunflowers and roses but the lotus flowers are especially popular.  The flowers are used in religious services and as offerings in traditional special occasions including during the Tet Lunar New Year holidays. Return to Hue City by relaxing boat trip.
     
    In the afternoon, visit the intricately decorated tomb of Khai Dinh, which contains a beautiful altar and a bust of the king. Also, explore the most important relic – the Citadel, seat of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Construction began in 1804 under the orders of the first Emperor Gia Long after the site had been selected using principles of geomancy (Feng Shui). The citadel was inspired by Vauban fortifications and is composed of three sections; the capital city (Thanh Kinh), the Imperial city (Hoang Thanh) and the Forbidden City (Cam Thanh). It was largely destroyed in 1968 during the fighting that engulfed Hue following the Tet Offensive. Today, efforts are being made to restore and preserve this invaluable piece of heritage.   • Day 10

    HUE – HO CHI MINH CITY – HCMC NIGHT LIFE ON VESPA SCOOTER (B/D)

     After breakfast, depart to airport for a short flight to Hoi Chi Minh city. On arrival, transfers to hotel and enjoy free time at leisure.

     
    In the late afternoon, experience HCMC nightlife the way local do, all from the back of a vintage Vespa scooter. Enjoy drinks at Vespa Themed café to watch “as the world goes by”. Throughout the night, try a variety of food and drinks at local restaurants and samplings of Saigon’s best authentic street food. You’ll also go to a Vietnamese-style coffee shop with special live music, and then wrap up the evening at an exciting bar where the new generation of Vietnamese unwind and flaunt their unique styles
     
    Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
  • Day 11

    HO CHI MINH CITY –MEKONG DELTA (B/L)

     Depart from Ho Chi Minh around 8 am and head south to Ben Tre province, famous for its coconut production and quiet, peaceful waterways.

     
    On arrival, take a Xe loi ride through the local village of Huu Dinh to enjoy the green fields and gardens. Continue with a short walk to Huu Phuoc Bridge, where you will start your boat trip through small canals with beautiful tropical scenery. On board the boat, enjoy a welcome drink and tropical fruits while cruising.
     
    The cruise will first stop at a Coconut processing family owned business. Here you will learn what Ben Tre is known for and the hundreds of uses of each single coconut. Return to your boat and cruise across the water to a brick making factory, where the locals still use centuries-old traditional methods to make the bricks by hand. Enjoy a casual cycling trip that will take you to visit a local rice noodle factory which produces Hu Tieu noodles, one of the most popular dishes in the region. After your visit take a short walk to one of our friends, Mrs. Huong, who lives with her 3 children and grandson – they live on fishing, shrimp and fruit orchards. Enjoy fresh fruits and tea and then board a rowing sampan taking you through a lush narrow canal, displaying the tranquil nature of the region.
     
    After rowing through the quiet canal, you will reconnect with your Day Cruiser and enjoy a cruise to a private riverside restaurant. It is time for you to relax and enjoy a 5-course lunch of local specialties. Relax and have a walk around the lush garden setting. 
     
    Then continue your cycling trip to My Long to visit Mr Sau Tuong, a former Vietcong soldier who survived two years fighting the Khmer Rouge in Phnom Penh. Now he and his wife live on making rice paper which is the most famous specialty of My Long village. Have a chat with him and enjoy the crispy rice paper made by his wife, and see how it is made.
     
    Then visit the nearby house of Mr Hung, who is a famous sticky rice maker in the village. You can also feed his stock of catfish and walk through his fruit garden.
     
    After the visit, the boat will be waiting for you at the pier nearby to bring you back to Ben Tre city where your car will be ready to take you back to Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Day 12

    HO CHI MINH CITY – DEPARTURE (B)

     Leave some time free to soak up the atmosphere of the city before being transferred to airport for our onward flight.

A. CANCELLATION POLICY:
The cancellation charges below refer to the non-transferable fee that is charged to the group member who has cancelled their tour:

  • More than 45 days before departure: No cancellation charge
  • Between 45 and 30 days before departure: 10% of total tour cost 
  • Between 30 days and 15 days before departure: 25% of total tour cost
  • Between 15 days and 7 days before departure: 50% of total tour cost
  • Less than 7 days before departure: 90% of total tour cost
  • No-show at the airport on the day of arrival/departure: 100% of total tour cost

  • Child from 1- 4 yrs:  Free of charge if sharing bed with parents 
  • Child from 5 – 6 yrs: charge 30% of adult price if sharing existing bed(s) with parents
